Peter Theil’s attacks on higher education are boring

A whole lot of hubbub has been generated by infamous billionaire Peter Theil and his repeated, dull attacks on higher education across the United States. Despite the fact that I keep seeing more and more about Theil in the media, usually when it comes to his ceaseless critiques of American universities, I think too few people are acknowledging one simple fact – Peter Theil and his long-disproven assault on higher ed isn’t just hopelessly wrong, it’s also incredibly boring. Here’s why I think Peter Theil’s long played-out criticisms of higher education are totally nonsensical, and so boring that they aren’t…

Apple has just confirmed its acquisition of the music identification app, Shazam. On top of this, the company has announced that the app will become ad-free for all users, even for those on Android. Review: HTC’s Vive Wireless Adapter solves one of VR’s biggest problems

HTC today launched its latest salvo in the war to win the hearts and minds of VR early-adopters: The Vive Wireless Adapter. We got our hands on one, made fun of how it looks, and then got lost in virtual reality with no tether to lead us home. The Vive Wireless Adapter is an accessory device for HTC’s Vive and Vive Pro headsets. As the name suggests, it allows you to use either headset without a tether. It’s a pretty ingenious little device.   But it does give your headset less of a “futuristic device connected to a giant computer…

Devs worry Ethereum is clogged with crappy apps, but Vitalik has a fix

There’s growing concern that Ethereum cannot handle anymore dApps – but founder Vitalik Buterin says he’s close to fixing the scalability issues. Afri Schoedon, part of the Parity wallet development team, recently urged new decentralized app (dApp) projects away from Ethereum. “Please stop deploying [dApps] to Ethereum,” Schoedon wrote. “We are running at capacity.” Schoedon then declared a need to “meta-decentralize” Ethereum. The approach would involve deploying critical parts of dApps on Ethereum’s mainnet, and running the rest of the necessary processes on a compatible blockchain platform – like Ethereum Classic. Ethereum founder and Russian boy-wonder, Vitalik Buterin, has disagreed, claiming that…
