Weiss were originally announced as the writers and producers of the newest film series. The two are now backing out due to a preexisting Netflix deal, citing a lack of time to properly work on both. The deal between the duo and Netflix was for $200 million, and is centered on multiyear, TV and film creation. Despite the split, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said that there were no hard feelings toward the duo.
